Monoploid organisms reproduce asexually since they need to transmit all of their genetic material to their offspring. Diploid organisms, have 2 copies of their genetic material that differ slightly in their genes. Since the progeny gets half of the DNA from each parent, we have that new combinations can emerge; for example, if the mother is AA for some allele and the father aa, their offspring will be Aa, a new genotype. This might have different implications (for example, the recessive gene for thalassemia also provides resistance to malaria). Finally, during meiosis, there is also an event called crossover that increases the genetic variation of the offspring.

Juli2301 [7.4K]

The answer is penicillin

Rheumatic fever is a disease that caused by Group A streptococcus infection. The bacteria has component that similar to the heart valve cells, makes the immune cell attack it. The drug of choice for this infection is penicillin G benzathine injection. It is one of penicillin family drug that has high prevalence of allergy reaction, so you must be aware.

In a large population of plants, notches in the leaves are caused by a dominant allele N and lack of notches by a recessive alle
Jobisdone [24]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

If the population is in equilibrium, the allele frequencies will be constant.

There is nothing about the heritability of dominant or recessive alleles that make dominant ones any more likely by nature. This rules out choices A and B.

Genetic drift mentioned in D refers to alleles leaving a population. Nothing like this was mentioned in the question, so count that answer out.

C is the only remaining answer by process of elimination. It is also the most logical choice. Directional selection refers to a process of natural selection wherein extreme phenotypes (notched leaves, or non-notched leaves) are favored. In this case, there may be some external pressure causing notched leaf plants to be more evolutionarily fit, meaning that they survive long enough to reproduce more and increase allele frequency of the dominant allele.

What do ecosystems consist of?
frez [133]
Ecosystems mostly consist of both - abiotic and biotic factors. For that reason the answer which would properly address your question would be A - biotic and abiotic factors. Biotic factors are considered to represent the part of nature that are living and affect other organisms while abiotic factors are things which do not affect other living compounds.

A student wants to cross parent mice to produce offspring with black fur and offspring
topjm [15]

Answer:

Bb and Bb

Explanation:

This is the only combination of the four that will produce both mice with black fur and mice with white fur. Option A will only give black fur, option B will only give white fur, and option C will only give black fur since parent 1 will only give the dominant B allele to the offspring. With Bb and Bb, the genotypes of the resulting offspring could be BB, Bb (which will result in black fur) or bb (which will result in white fur).
