The two angles are alternate interior angles.  If they lines are parallel, then the angles are equal.

7x-7 = 4x+14

Subtract 4x from each side

7x-4x -7 = 4x-4x+14

3x-7 = 14

Add 7 to each side

3x-7+7 = 14+7

3x=21

Divide by 3

3x/3 =21/3

x=7
