Ok so

x - the smallest
The other 4 are : x+1, x+2, x+3, x+4
We know that sum is 120
So
x+x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4=120
Combine like terms
5x+10=120
Subtract 10 on both sides
5x=120-10
5x=110
Divide by 5 on both sides
X=22
The third number is x+2 = 22+2=24

After the first term in a sequence, the ratio of each term to the preceding term is r. If the first term is a, what is the third
irinina [24]

Answer:

The 3rd term is

ar^2

Step-by-step explanation:

From the given information, the first term of the sequence is

a_1=a

The common ratio of the sequence is

r

The explicit formula for a geometric sequence is :

a_n=a_1(r^{n-1})

To find the third term, we put n=3 to get:

a_n=a(r^{3-1})

This simplifies to:

a_3=ar^2
