Henry's meeting with Sam contributes to the theme of the story by showing that Sam is a female. Before he met the real sam, he incorrectly thought that Sam was a male.
I believe that the theme relates to how women can do things men can do just as well and how Henry has to learn and understand this. When Henry met Sam, I could tell that he was a little off-put by the fact that she was the diner owner and a strong woman. In the play, Henry says "...but surely you have help from this fellow named Sam." this shows how he wrongly assumes Sam is a male. In the end, he even admits that "my readers and I have a lot to learn!"
I hope this helps!
It took me a while to write this all out, and I would appreciate it if you could mark me as brainliest :-)

I casually walked in to my 1st period math class. My teacher doesn't assign seats, so we can sit where ever we want, along as you can handle it. Anyways, we started this boring class by watching an introduction video. My teacher dimmed the lights and played the video. After 4 minutes in, my friend started throwing tiny paper balls into peoples hair. I told her to stop because it was kind of mean. When I was whispering to tell her to stop, the teacher looked at me and nodded her head "No". My friend continued to do it for some reason even after I told her to stop. The video was about 8 minutes in at this point. She continued to throw the paper. Apparently there was this one kid watching us the whole time and from his perspective, it looked like I was throwing them. He told the teacher and the teacher moved me right next to her. I didn't want to rad out my friend but I took the blame for her. I had to sit there for the next week and apologize to the person who had paper in their hair. I guess that's just what friends to, right?
