I suspect that you teacher wants to know what an "aside" is in a play. In plays, an aside happens when a character says something aloud on stage, but the audience understands that the other characters on the stage cannot hear what the speaker is saying. In other words, the actor turns aside form the other characters, appearing to speak to himself or herself alone. This is a way of giving the audience information about what the character is thinking without having the other characters appear to know the same information.

Civility vs savagery in lord of the flies chapter 2
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

At first, the signal fire symbolizes rescue. But as it grows out of control, it symbolizes danger and death, foreshadowing how it will later become associated with destruction and savagery.

In chapter 2, Jack begins to display his domineering, disruptive behavior by interrupting Ralph's speech and unceremoniously ending the assembly as soon as Ralph mentions a signal fire. Jack's violent behavior and antagonistic attitude directed at Piggy foreshadows their future conflicts.
