A scavenger consumes decaying biomass such as rotten plants or meat. Scavengers form a part on the food web along with carnivores and omnivores which consume meat products as a part of their food. The condors and other scavengers play an important part in the food web as they keep the ecosystem free of carrions or dead bodies by breaking down the nutrients and recycling the organic material into the environment.
