Solutions

There are three methods to solve this problem :-

<span>Substitution
</span>
<span>Elimination
</span>
<span>Matrix
</span>
To solve this problem we will use substitution.

Calculations

⇒ Lets solve for the variable x in  x+3y=5

→ x+3y = 5

⊄ Subtract 3y from both sides ⊅<span>

</span>→ <span>x = 5−3y

</span>Substitute <span><span>x=5−</span>3y</span> into <span>x−3y =−1

</span>⇒ Start with the original equation<span>

</span><span>x−3y=−1
</span>
⇒ Let <span>x=5−3y

</span><span>5−3y−3y=−1
</span>
⇒ <span>Simplify

</span><span>5−6y=−1

</span>Solve for y<span> in </span><span>5−6y=−<span>1

</span></span><span>y=1
</span>
Substitute <span>y=1</span><span> into </span><span>x=5−3y

</span><span>x=2

</span>Therefore,

<span><span>x=2

</span></span><span><span>y=1</span></span><span>

</span>

andre [41]
The answer is 12.8 cm³

<span>The volume ( v) of a gas in a container at a constant temperature varies inversely as the pressure (p):
v = k/p
p * v = k  (k - constant)

p1v1 = k
p2v2 = k
So, p1v1 = p2v2

v1 = 24 cm</span>³
p1 = 16 lb
v2 = ?
p2 = 30 lb

24 * 16 = x * 30
384 = x * 30
x = 384 / 30
x = 12.8 cm³

A right square pyramid has a height of 36 m and a volume 1728 m². What is its base length of the pyramid?
Gala2k [10]
The answer is 144m.

Volume of square pyramid formula:
V = 1/3 * b * h

1728 = 1/3 * b * 36
1728 = 12b
1728/12 = b
b = 144
