A local college student will be randomly selected to attend a leadership conference in Washington, D.C. There are 2020 local col

lege students, of which 40% are male. 480 of the college students are graduate students, and half of the graduate students are female. Which of the following best represents the probability that the selected college student will be a male student or a graduate student?

Answer:

The probability is 0.5188

Step-by-step explanation:

The number of students that are graduate students is 480, from this quantity 240 are female and 240 are male. So, there are 1540 not graduated students.

For calculate the probability of select a college student that will be a male student or a graduate student is necessary to know the number of graduate students that are male.

Let call x the number of male from not graduated student. From the question we know that the 40% of the 2020 students are male and 240 of the graduate students are male too. So we can formulate the following equation:

240 + x = 2020(0.4)

x=568

So, there are 568 male from not graduated students.

Then the probability can be calculate as:

P=\frac{ 480 + 568 }{ 2020}

Because there are 480 students that are graduated beetween male and female and from not graduate students there are 568 that are male. So the total number of students that are male or graduate students are 1040. Finally the probabilitty is:

P=1024/2020 = 0.5188

480/2020=23.76%

add that to the population that is male (40%)

63.76% chance of either male or graduate

as a fraction: 480/2020+808/2020 ; 1288/2020 or 322/505

Identify the correct explanation and the similarity statement for the similar triangles.
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

Option B

Step-by-step explanation:

From the picture attached,

In ΔABC,

m∠B = m∠C = 75° [Isosceles triangles]

By applying triangle sum theorem,

m∠A + m∠B + mC = 180°

m∠A + 75° + 75° = 180°

m∠A = 180° - 150°

m∠A = 30°

In triangle PQR,

m∠P = m∠Q [Isosceles triangle]

By applying triangle sum theorem,

m∠P + m∠Q + m∠R = 180°

2(m∠P) + 30° = 180°

m∠P = 75°

m∠P = m∠Q = 75°

In ΔABC and ΔRPQ,

m∠B ≅ m∠Q [Given]

m∠C ≅ m∠R [Given]

Therefore, by AA property of similarity of two triangles, both the triangles will be similar.

ΔABC ~ ΔRPQ

Option B will be the answer.

Helki found a stick that was 5 3/4 feet long. He needed one that was about 5 feet long.is it reasonable to say that this stick w
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

Yes, the stick is resonable.

Step-by-step explanation:

All he needs is 5 feet, so if he finds one that is only a little over 5 feet, such as 5 3/4 feet is reasonable.

19 Which figure(s) below can have a triangle as a two-dimensional cross
Andrew [12]

The figures that can have a triangle as a two-dimensional cross section are (4) I, III, and IV, only

How to determine the figures?

The cross-section of three-dimensional figures are as a result of slicing the figure along its axis.

 • When the cube is sliced with its plane, it gives a triangle face
 • When a cone is sliced vertically, it gives a triangle face
 • One of the faces of a square pyramid is a triangle; so it has a triangle face

Hence, the figures that can have a triangle as a two-dimensional cross section are (4) I, III, and IV, only
