Stove area = 12 square feet
Refrigerator area = 20 square feet
Entire kitchen floor =  270 square feet
12 + 20 = 32 square feet
270 square feet - 32 square feet = 238 square feet
238 square feet will be needed

The value of x is and the value of y is
storchak [24]
Since the slope is 2/3, for every time the x-value increases by 1
the y-value increases by 2/3.

The answer to x is found by finding the difference between 3 and 5, which is 2.
2/3 goes into that 3 times.
So subtract 2 from -2 to get -4.
The x-value is -4.

The answer for the y-value is given earlier:
the original point of (-2,5).
The y-value is 5.

Hope this helps!

How is this solved? I have been trying for hours.
dimaraw [331]
First you simplify the square root of -8, which is approximately -2.83. Subtract -2 by the square root of -8, and you'll get -4.83. Divide -4.83 by 2, and the answer should be -2.415 or -2.42. I'm not sure about this answer though.
