The reason federalists supported a strong national government is when Alexander Hamilton was made the secretary of treasury when he was funding a debt that was occuring he could create a split in the original federalist form of government. It became very popular with New Englanders and republicans that were mostly farmers that opposed of a strong government.
Constantinople's location between Europe, Asia, and how it is along the Mediterranean sea allows it to be in close range between the major landforms (Travel). Merchants around these areas also have to cross through Constantinople to get to these places. For example, a European merchant would have to pass through Constantinople to get to Asia.
