The elimination of monopolies was part of Woodrow Wilson's New Freedom agenda.

Further Explanations:

Thomas Woodrow Wilson's President of the United States was also the chief draftsman of “League of Nation”. During the presidential election of 1912, he adopted the campaign policy of “New Freedom Agenda” to influence the large mass of the nation. His agenda emphasized on the formation of a limited administration enacted as per progressive reforms that were to be instigated in his first tenure. New freedom always stood for economic and administrative liberty that in other term was eradicating monopolies.s

After WWI he prepared for peace accords, including his plans for League of Nation. At the instigation of the War, America remained neutral and become large scale suppliers of war-related goods for Britain and its Allies in the form of raw material and money. After the long negligence of Wilson, Americans entered the combat on 6th April 1917 with motive to sustain peace and impeach his plan of the League of Nation.
