How does stomach acid prevent infections

Health
1 answer:

The secretion of hydrochloric acid by the stomach plays an important role in protecting the body against pathogens ingested with food or water. A gastric fluid pH of 1 to 2 is deleterious to many microbial pathogens; however, the neutralization of gastric acid by antacids or the inhibition of acid secretion by various drugs may increase the risk of food- or waterborne illnesses. Peptic ulcer disease is often treated by decreasing or eliminating gastric acid secretion, and such treatment blocks the protective antibacterial action of gastric fluid.

Aleksandr-060686 [28]

The nurse's highest priority when delivering care is to place the client on fall precautions.

Vertigo and hearing loss are two symptoms of the inner ear ailment Meniere's disease.

When you experience a loss of balance when you close your eyes during the test, the Romberg test is considered positive.

Guidelines and processes that have been modified to identify people who are at risk of falling and to give preventive measures to lower that risk in turn reducing falls and injuries connected to falls are referred to as fall precautions.

Some Universal fall precautions are:

1) Introduce the client to the surroundings.

2) Ask the client to exhibit calling light use.

3) Keep your call light handy.

4) Keep the client's personal items within easy reach of the client.

5) In the client's bathroom, room, and hallway, install strong railings.
