How were ancient Rome organized?

Ancient Roman society was organized on a class and gender system. The various classes depended upon birth. However there was an upward mobility for the lower classes such as a slave being freed, a member of the proletariat being enrolled in the equite class, or an equite being appointed to the patrician class. Gender played a certain part in Roman society as there were activities that were not appropriate for women and activities that were not appropriate for men. For example, a woman would never think of joining the army and a man would never think of spinning wool.    :) HOPE IT WORKED ...

Slaves in ancient Rome came primarily from conquered populations. When the Roman Empire ceased expanding and conquering new areas, the supply of new slaves decreased.
