A few of the shapes you have to break up into smaller shapes to calculate the area. I have marked these on this picture with smaller lines so you can see. On the shape on the upper left, you have to make four small triangles, calculate the area of each one, and then add them all together. On the one near the middle, you get a triangle and a rectangle. The one just left of the middle; you get two triangles. These are all shapes that you should know how to calculate and then you just add them together to get the area of the whole shape.
a.
formula for the area of an isosceles triangle.
triangle 1 = 1.73, triangle 2 = .97, triangle 2 = 1.48, triangle 4 = 1.73. Total = 5.91
b. Is also the total of 2 isosceles triangles: triangle 1 = 11.3, triangle 2 = 10.3, Total = 21.6.
c.
where n = number of sides and a = length of a side is the formula of a regular polygon. If you are not up to this yet, you can divide this shape into multiple triangles and solve it like that. A = 4.83
d. Is a right triangle
= 7
e. Is a square A = l*w = 9
f. Is a right triangle A= 3
g. Is a rectangle A = 15
h. You have to split into a rectangle and a triangle. The rectangle is 8, the triangle is A = 4.15 so the total = 12.15
Hope that all helps.
