According to the Pearsall Plan, why should the state
docker41 [41]

Answer:

1.  to give the legislature the power to pass new laws

2.  to discourage racial mixing

3.  to retain public support

Explanation:

The Pearsall Plan, which was a response of the North Carolina to the ruling of the United States Supreme Court on the unconstitutionality of racial segregation in public schools.

Created in 1956, Pearsall Plan sought a moderate approach to mix their public schools, however, in the bid to achieve their goal, the plan gave reason the state (North Carolina) should amend her Constitution, to reach common ground on the issue. The following are the reasons given:

1. to give the legislature the power to pass new laws: this enable the legislature to passed legislation that delay the integration.

2. to discourage racial mixing: there is also amendment of Compulsory School Attendance Law which excused students from going to integrated schools, there by discouraging racial mixing in public schools.

3. to retain public support of school: the plan seek to give more power to the school board which in turn, helps to retain public school supports.

Thereafter, in the case of Godwin v. Johnston County Board of Education (1969), ruled the Pearsall Plan unconstitutional.

Which best describes how media coverage influences elections?
rjkz [21]

Media coverage gives voters an impression of the candidates.

Because much of media coverage comes in very brief news segments and even short "sound bites," it tends to provide an impression of the candidates, without necessarily providing in-depth presentation and analysis of their views. This varies, of course, depending on which "media" you have in mind with the question. Committed news organizations which employ highly skilled journalists will do deeper pieces on candidates and their views or policies -- see, for instance, articles in The New York Times or Washington Post or The Atlantic.

There are many new forms of media--such as social media websites and politically-aligned cable networks--where people can go to get biased perspectives and be told how to vote or not to vote. But the most respected media outets strive to present a full picture and cover all candidates. Still, because most voters will watch or read only portions of news media coverage, the best answer is that media tends to give voters an impression of candidates -- which sometimes is less complete than the full picture.

What has been a serious case of division among the nations of Eastern Europe?
Gala2k [10]

Answer:

The answer to the question: What has been a serious case of division among the nations of Eastern Europe, would be: A: Ethnicity and C: Religion.

Explanation:

Almost from their very creation there has been a lot of issues that have driven the countries from Eastern Europe into constant conflict. One such issue has been ethnicity, given that there has been, historically, a perception on the inferiority of certain ethnic groups by others, even within the countries themselves. One such example is the ethnic persecutions in conuntries like Serbia, or in Bosnia. Ethnicity, in most of these countries, is seen as a point of conflict, and it has driven a lot of the massacres, and wars, that have ensued. Another issue has been religion, especially given the vast amount of influences that these lands have received throughout history. However, Eastern Europeans do not accept differences of religion, and it is known that they do not accept Judaism, or Islam, despite having had influences from both. Because these religious minorities exist within the countries, many conflicts have arisen when the governments of these Eastern European nations, have wished to eradicate them. This is why these are the two main issues that have caused constant problems in Eastern Europe.
