'of' in mathematics means multiplication

Translating 8 is 50% of what number into an equation, we get:

8 = 50% * x

50%, or 50 percent, is nothing but 50 over 100 or 50/100, which is the same as 1/2.

8 = 1/2 * x

Multiply 2 on both sides.

8 * 2 = 1/2 * 2 * x

16 = x

x = 16

One of the major advantage of the two-condition experiment has to do with interpreting the results of the study.
