So the equation was really 6x+8=44, not 6x+8y=44 as I am used to

solve for x first

6x+8=44
minus 8 both sides
6x=36
divide both sides by 6
x=6

sub
y=6x+4
y=6(6)+4
y=36+4
y=40

Alja [10]

Answer:

22
