Answer:

15  years , 12  years , 8 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

John is 3 years older than Jim.

Jim is 4 years less than twice David’s age.

Ages of three boys add up to 35.

Question asked:

How old are the three boys?

Solution:

Let age of David = y

Let age of Jim = x

Then age of John will be = x + 3

As Jim is 4 years less than twice David’s age

Equation will be  , x = 2y - 4

Multiplying both side  by 2

                       = 2x = 4y - 8  (let equation 1 )

As ages of three boys add up to 35.

Equation will be,x + (x + 3) + y = 35

                           = 2x + 3 + y = 35

Subtracting both side by 3

                           =   2x + y = 32

                          = 2x = - y + 32  (let equation 2 )

subtracting equation 1 and 2,we get

                           =  2x = - y + 32

                          =   2x = 4y - 8

                          =  0 = - 5y + 40

                          = 5y = 40

dividing both side by 5

                              = y = 8 (David ages)

Then  ( age of Jim)  x = 2y - 4

                                 x = 2 \times8 - 4

                                    = 16 - 4

                                    = 12 years

Then age of John will be, x + 3

                                            = 12 + 3

                                            = 15 years

Thus, age of John = 15 years

Age of Jim = 12 years

Age of David = 8 years

Find the area of the green sector if ∠ A = 45° and the circle has a radius of 10 inches.
Furkat [3]

Answer:

D) 25π/2 in²

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a sector of central angle θ and radius r is ...

... A = (1/2)r²θ

Your sector has central angle π/4 and radius 10 in, so has area ...

... A = (1/2)(10 in)²(π/4)

... A = 25π/2 in² . . . . matches selection D
