Read this passage from "An Indian Father's Plea" by Medicine Grizzlybear Lake: My Indian child has a constitutional right to lea

rn, retain, and maintain his heritage and culture. By the same token, I strongly believe that non-Indian children also have a constitutional right to learn about our Native American heritage and culture, because Indians play a significant part in the history of Western society. Until this reality is equally understood and applied in education as a whole, there will be a lot more schoolchildren in grades K-2 identified as "slow learners." My son, Wind-Wolf, is not an empty glass coming into your class to be filled. He is a full basket coming into a different environment and society with something special to share. Please let him share his knowledge, heritage, and culture with you and his peers.

Choose the adverbial phrase to add more detail to the following sentence. My family wanted to celebrate. Choose the adverbial ph
uysha [10]

The correct answer is D) After the big game, my family wanted to celebrate. To understand why it's important to know that an adverbial phrase is when the adverb is used to describe <u>when, where, how, how often or how long</u> something happens. In this case, we have an adverbial phrase of time because it states when something happens: "<em>After the big game</em>" this part help us to understand when the action happens , also the reason behind why they wanted to celebrate and at the end, it adds more detail to the sentence "<em>My family wanted to celebrate</em>".

The adverb is placed at the beginning of the sentence so we can cross out the <u>option B</u> and also the <u>option C.</u> The option B is describing where the family come from and "from out of town" doesn't function here as an adverb, the function here is to describe the precedence of the family but no more details. <u>The option A</u> is incorrect because when we use "<em>entire</em>" as an adverb it only goes after a verb and in this case, we have "<em>entire family</em>" so it goes with a noun and it's not correct as an adverbial phrase.

How does asides work in conjunction with dramatic irony?
navik [9.2K]
Dramatic Irony is irony based on you knowing something the characters don't know. If you've ever seen a horror movie, or a Nicholas Sparks romantic drama, you know what I'm talking about. Examples would be knowing that the blonde character is about to open the door to the room that Jason is waiting in, or the husband coming home to see his wife when we clearly know she remarried while he was off.

So, asides are the main way a storyteller is able to communicate dramatic irony for tension, weather it be dramatic or comedic. Lets go back to the Friday the 13th analogy. The main story involves the teenagers at camp Crystal Lake. So while we'll have a scene fleshing out their characters in the dining room, we'll cut away to an "aside", or scene/plotline that's not directly related to the main plot, of Jason crawling in the window to the bathroom. We then cut back to the main shot, where the blonde character says she needs to relieve herself. Everybody laughs, and as she walks away, we see Jason inching towards the door with machete in hand. The side-plot, or "asides" of Jason getting in the room, builds the dramatic irony of us knowing the blonde is going to die, but the characters don't know that yet as the asides were out of their realm of perspective.

I hope this helps!
