The correct answer is C) Germany wanted Mexico as an ally in exchange for help in recovering Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona from the United States.

What was revealed about Germany when the British intercepted the Zimmerman telegram was that Germany wanted Mexico as an ally in exchange for help in recovering Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona from the United States.

British cryptographers deciphered a telegram in January 1917 from Arthur Zimmermann, German Foreign Minister. The telegram was directed to von Eckhardt, the German Minister in Mexico. In the telegram, Zimmerman offered Mexico the United States territory once belonged to Mexico. What the Germans solicited was that Mexico joined the German side. This was one of the reasons the U.S. entered the war.
