Let n be the 1st number, the 2nd is n+1
But we know that (n) + (n+1) = -49
2n + 1 = - 49
2n = - 49 - 1
2n = -50 and n = - 25 and n+1 = -25 + 1 = -24
the 2 consecutive numbers are - 25 and - 24

Х is the first integer
(x+1) is the second integer

x + x + 1 = -49
2x + 1 = - 49
2x = -49 - 1
2x = -50
x = -25 first integer
-25 + 1 = -24 second integer

Answer: -25 and -24

What is the cross-sectional area of a wire if its outside diameter is 0.0625 inch?
Leno4ka [110]

Given that the diameter: d= 0.0625 inch.

So, radius of the wire : r = \frac{0.0625}{2} = 0.03125 inch

Now the formula to find the cross-sectional area of wire ( circle) is:

A = πr²

= 3.14 * (0.03125)² Since, π = 3.14 and r = 0.03125

=3.14 * 0.000976563

= 0.003066406

= 0.00307 (Rounded to 5 decimal places).

Hence, cross-sectional area of a wire is 0.00307 square inches.

Hope this helps you!

Nookie1986 [14]

Hello!

1. 8y = 48 => y = 48 : 8 => y = 6

2. q - 12 = 1 => q = 1 + 12 => q = 13

3. 18 = a/2 => a = 18 × 2 => a = 36

4. r/3 = 7 => r = 3 × 7 => r = 21

5. 11 = m - 4 => m = 11 + 4 => m = 15

Good luck! :)

Select a counter-example that makes the conclusion false.
Leya [2.2K]

The statement is False.

For this, it is enough to show a case in which the subtraction of two positive numbers is negative.

For this, we must choose two numbers.

Suppose we want to subtract the following numbers:

Number 1: 5

Number 2: 10

Subtracting both numbers we have:

5 - 10 = -5

We observe that the result is negative. Therefore, the given conclusion is false.

Answer:

Counterexample:

5-10 = -5
