You tell the person who said "maybe he should just get a job" to be nicer, because it is so rude to make fun of or be insensitive about the homless people. You should stop the care and either give them money, or a spare blanket to help them not freeze to death.
explain to them that if he were in that position he would want someone to help him , tell him or her that there probably something holding that "loser" back from getting and job, and remind them to be positive
