.. What is the average rainfall in mm's for the following cities:
Andrei [34K]

The average annual precipitation in these cities are:

Vancouver - 1457 mm

Edmonton - 456

Regina - 390

Toronto - 831

Halifax - 1468

Explanation:

Canada is enormous country, and of course it has large differences when it comes to the precipitation levels across its territory. In general, the closer a region is to the sea, the more precipitation it tends to get, to further a region is in the interior, the lower the precipitation. The exceptions of these rules are the areas in the interior that are around the Great Lakes, and the far north.

The Great Lakes are several enormous lakes which create a lot of humidity in the air, so despite being in the interior, the amount of precipitation is relatively good. The northern part of the country, despite being surrounded by sea, has very low precipitation levels, with the main reason being the polar climate.

This patterns can easily be seen by the five cities on the list. Vancouver and Halifax are located on places that are heavily influenced by the sea, so they have high precipitation levels. Toronto is right next to the Great Lakes and it has medium precipitation levels. Regina and Edmonton are located in the interior, far away from the wet air masses, thus they have relatively low precipitation levels.

Drag and drop the words into the correct locations
Ahat [919]

When it enters a planet's atmosphere is meteor. Any piece remaining after impact is a meteorite.

Explanation:

There is often confusion when it comes to the terms asteroid, meteoroid, meteor, and meteorite. To most people it seems as if it is the same thing, but there are some defining differences between them, and when do they change, thus getting another term.

The asteroids and meteoroids are rocky bodies in space that circle around a star, with the asteroids being larger and the meteoroids being smaller.

When they enter Earth's atmosphere and start vaporizing they become meteors. They have a glowing appearance for few seconds, and people often call them shooting stars.

If a piece of any size manages to remain after its passing through the atmosphere and has an impact with Earth's surface than it is called meteorite. The size can vary a lot, from tiny pebble, to few square meters, or even few square km in extreme cases.
