The correct answer is option a) mimicry.

Mimicry is a defense mechanism which is inherited from generations to generations that is why it is considered as an innate behavior not a combination of innate and learned behavior. Inheritance of a trait is the basic difference between innate and learned behavior. Learned behaviors are confined to only a particular organism and they are not passed on to that organism's off-springs. In mimicry, a harmless creature pretends as if it is very dangerous. So, the predator thinks that it is almost impossible to kill that organism and predator does not feed upon it. In short, mimicry increases the fitness of an organism.

Which of the following best describes gross primary productivity in an ecosystem?A. Gross primary productivity is the total amou
marusya05 [52]

Answer:

D. Gross primary productivity is the total amount of solar energy captured by producers through photosynthesis over time.

Explanation:

The gross primary productivity of an ecosystem represents the rate at which the producers of the system capture the solar energy so that they can perform the process of photosynthesis. Therefore, GPP is the total amount of photosynthetic energy captured per unit area over a given time period. Producers consume the part of the GPP for their own respiration and maintenance. Therefore, gross primary productivity is the sum total of the growth of producers per unit area per unit time and the energy used by them for respiration.
