Answer:

Function 2          B

Step-by-step explanation:

I know this might be late, but the answer is C, because Function 1, has a slope of -4/3, while function 2 has a slope of 3/4.

You can find the slope of function 1, by doing the slope formula and plugging values in.

y2-y1   /   x2-x1

4-0    /   0-3

4/-3

-4/3

Function 2 can be solved by

8-5 over (/) 4-0

3/4

It takes every single brain cell to figure out if negative numbers are smaller than positive numbers, and after 5 hours of scratching my head, I figured out that the answer is that Function 2 is larger. Then you can find the answer by going through the answer choices and finding that B is correct, because A, C, and D are all wrong as C and D say that Function has a steeper slope which is wrong, and A is wrong because it says that Function 2 is steeper because it has a negative slope. I think anyone who reads this will be like: -_-     -___- so....

For both functions, we can use the rise over run formula to find the slope. Rise over run uses the following formula:

\frac{y_{2} - y_{1}}{x_{2} - x_{1}}

Function 1 has the points (0,4) and (3,0). Plug the x and y values into the formula:

\frac{0-4}{3-0} =  \frac{-4}{3}

Function 1 has a slope of -4/3.

We can take any two points from Function 2. We'll use (0,5) and (4,8). Plug the values into the formula:

\frac{8 - 5}{4 - 0} =  \frac{3}{4}

Function 2 has a slope of 3/4.

Because the question asks for the steeper slope, we'll convert the slope of Function 1 into a positive number. The slope will now be 4/3.

Compare the slopes of both functions:

\frac{4}{3} \ \textgreater \  \frac{3}{4}

Function 1 has the steeper slope, -4/3.

Answer: angle V = 41 degrees  (choice B)

======================================================

Explanation:

We're told that RS = ST = RT. This means triangle RST has all three sides equal to one another. This triangle is equilateral. Each interior angle is 60 degrees. This is because each angle is y, and y+y+y = 180.

Since each angle of triangle RST is 60 degrees, this means angle STR is 60 degrees.

Let z be the measure of angle UTV. Note how

(angleSTR)+(angleUTV) = 180

60+z = 180

z = 180-60

z = 120

Making angle UTV to be 120 degrees

------------------------------------

Now we can focus on triangle UTV since we have expressions for each interior angle

  • U = 4x-9
  • T = 120
  • V = 5x+6

Add up those angles, set the sum equal to 180, solve for x

U+T+V = 180

(4x-9)+(120)+(5x+6) = 180

9x+117 = 180

9x = 180-117

9x = 63

x = 63/9

x = 7

Use that x value to find the missing angle measures

angle U = 4x-9 = 4*7-9 = 28-9 = 19 degrees

angle V = 5x+6 = 5*7+6 = 35+6 = 41 degrees

Note how

U+T+V = 19+120+41 = 180

which helps confirm our answer.

Which equation represents a line that passes though (4, 1/3) and has a slope of 3/4
stiks02 [169]

Answer:

\large\boxed{y-\dfrac{1}{3}=\dfrac{3}{4}(x-4)\leftarrow\text{point-slope form}}\\\boxed{y=\dfrac{3}{4}x-2\dfrac{2}{3}\leftarrow\text{slope-intercept form}}

Step-by-step explanation:

The point-slope form of an equation of a line:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

m - slope

(x₁, y₁) - point

We have

slope m=\dfrac{3}{4}

point \left9,\ \dfrac{1}{3}\right)\to x_1=4,\ y_1=\dfrac{1}{3}

Substitute:

y-\dfrac{1}{3}=\dfrac{3}{4}(x-4)

Convert to the slope-intercept form (y = mx + b):

y-\dfrac{1}{3}=\dfrac{3}{4}x-3            <em>add 1/3 to both sides</em>

y=\dfrac{3}{4}x-2\dfrac{2}{3}
