There are many functions of smooth muscle in the body.
- Determines the flow of blood
- move food through the digestive system
- pushes out urine
- help women push out her baby

It basically does things we are not conscious of as opposed to skeletal muscle.
They are found in walls of hollow organs and thus help them contract. They are involved in "housekeeping" functions of the body
