Citizens would have a sense of pride at their country's increased wealth and prosperity, in other words, they would be excited and proud about the increased power of their country.

The Age of Discovery, refers to the period in European history in which great overseas exploration arised as a powerful factor in European culture and which marked the initiation of globalization. It also was the beginning of  colonialism and mercantilism as national policies.
