Supreme Court rules in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide by Ariane de Vogue and Jeremy Diamond, CNN, Sat June 27, 2015 In a

landmark opinion, a divided Supreme Court on Friday ruled that same-sex couples can marry nationwide, establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a historic victory…. There were two questions before the Court, the first asked whether states could ban same sex marriage, the second asked whether states had to recognize lawful marriages performed out of state. The relevant cases were argued earlier this year. Attorney John Bursch, serving as Michigan's Special Assistant Attorney General, defended four states' bans on gay marriage before the Court, arguing that the case was not about how to define marriage, but rather about who gets to decide the question.
The debate over the legalization of same-sex marriage under the United States government is best understood under the context that

A) freedom to get married is protected under the 1st amendment in the Bill of Rights.
B) rights to regulate marriage are among shared powers between state and federal government.
C) rights to regulate marriage have historically been interpreted as reserved to state governments.
D) rights to regulate marriage were expressly granted to the federal government not state government.

How did many farmers deal with the effects of the Dust Bowl?
Masteriza [31]

The correct answer is that many farmers left their farms for California due to the effects of the Dust Bowl.

The phenomenon of the 1930s known as the Dust Bowl was one of the worst ecological disasters of the 20th century. The drought affected the plains and prairies that extend from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada. The drought lasted at least between 1932 and 1939, and was preceded by a long period of above average rainfall. The dust bowl effect was caused by persistent drought conditions, favored by years of soil management practices that left it susceptible to the action of wind forces. The soil, stripped of moisture, was lifted by the wind in great clouds of dust and sand so thick they hid the sun. These days they received the denomination of "black blizzards" or "black wind". The Dust Bowl multiplied the effects of the Great Depression in the region and caused the largest population displacement in a short space of time in the history of the United States. Three million people left their farms during the 1930s, and more than half a million emigrated to other states, especially to the west.
