<span>Drought caused by sparse rainfall, hot summers, and high winds predominantly led to the soil erosion in the Great Plains during the 1930's. Human factors such as over farming, and complete uprooting of plants left nothing to ground the sandy soil. This combined with the high winds caused large amounts of particulate to be picked up and blown away from the area leaving it barren.</span>
The Wilmot proviso states that slavery must be eliminated from the land that has been acquired from the result of the Mexican War. The Wilmot proviso was an American law that bans slavery to the acquired parts of the Mexico after the war and lead to the American Civil War.
