The base of a pyramid has n sides. write an expression for the number of corners on the pyramid.
melisa1 [442]

Answer:

n+1

If a pyramid has n number of sides

⇒number of vertices in the base = n

Since in a pyramid there is one vertex on the top,and n number of faces are on the sides,and one face is in the base.

Total number of faces of pyramid = n+1

Find x and y, given that KL and line MN are parallel. Show all work
Setler [38]
\dfrac{|MN|}{|NJ|}=\dfrac{|KL|}{|LJ|}\\\\\dfrac{22}{12+8}=\dfrac{y}{8}\\\\\dfrac{22}{20}=\dfrac{y}{8}\ \ \ |cross\ multiply\\\\20y=22\cdot8\\\\20y=176\ \ \ |:20\\\\\boxed{y=8.8}

\dfrac{|MK|}{|KJ|}=\dfrac{|NL|}{|LJ|}\\\\\dfrac{x-2}{5}=\dfrac{12}{8}\ \ \ \ |cross\ multiply\\\\8(x-2)=5\cdot12\\\\8x-16=60\ \ \ |+16\\\\8x=76\ \ \ |:8\\\\\boxed{x=9.5}

1/3t + 3/4 = 2/4 -t solve
olga55 [171]
Okay so I am going to summarize the work out process because its a lot to

Here we go

1/3 (t) + 3/4 - 2/4 - t = ?

1/2 (simplify )

(1/3 (T)+3/4 - 1/2 - (t) = ?

t (2) / 2

1 - 2(t) / 2 = ?

3/4 (simplify this )

1/3(t)+ 3/4 - [1 - 2(t) / 2 = ?

1/3 (this is re last one you have to simplify)

L (Denominator): 3

R (Denominator): 4

L: [L.C.M] : 4

R: [L.C.M] : 3

Basically , we just switched the dominators around

So, Therefore The of t is -3/16

T = -3/16

1-sin^2x/sinx-cscx <br><br>How do I solve this problem? I keep getting the wrong answer.
Annette [7]

Answer:

-sinx

Step-by-step explanation:

a trig identity that is crucial to solving this problem is: sin^2 + cos^2 = 1

with knowing that, you can manipulate that and turn it into 1 - sin^2x = cos^x

so 1-sin^2x/sinx - cscx becomes cos^2x/sinx - cscx

it is also important to know that cscx is the same thing as 1/sinx

knowing this information, cscx can be replaced with 1/sinx

(cos^2x)/(sinx - 1/sinx)

now sinx and 1/sinx do not have the same denominator, so we need to multiply top and bottom of sinx by sinx; it becomes....

cos^2x

---------------------

(sin^2x - 1)/sinx

notice how in the denominator it has sin^2x-1 which is equal to -cos^2x

so now it becomes:

cos^2x

--------------

-cos^2x/sinx

because we have a fraction over a fraction, we need to flip it

cos^2x          sinx

---------- * ----------------

1                  -  cos^2x

because the cos^2x can cancel out, it becomes 1

now the answer is -sinx
