A. The United States was occupied with domestic concerns during the Great Depression.

Many other countries were going through their own depressions, especially Germany with it's hyperinflation, so increased trade wasn't a thing. Nazi Germany wasn't fully in power yet, and communism, although not seen as a Cold War threat yet, was not tempting to the US.

The answers are:

A) In 1-2 sentences, identify the historical context of this excerpt.

According to James R. Ferguson, The four treatises that Otis wrote during 1764-65 revealed contradictions and even intellectual confusion. Otis was the first leader of the period in the development of the traditional ideas of the constitution and representation, but was based on the traditional views of the parliamentary authority.

B) In 2-3 sentences, describe how this excerpt reflects the influence of foreign events on the spread of revolutionary sentiment in the colonies.

After reading this paragraph we can infer that it refers to the colonial power exercised by his majesty over his colonies. We also see that it reveals which were the dominant colonies of the time and names them referring to France and Great Britain.

Explain how an American citizen can have influence over or help to shape a public policy.
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Public policy in the United States is shaped by a wide variety of forces, from polls and election results to interest groups and institutions, both formal and informal. In addition to political parties, the influence of diverse and sometimes antagonistic political forces has been widely acknowledged by policymakers and evidenced by scholars, and journalists. In recent years concerns have been growing that deep-pocketed donors now play an unprecedented role in American politics — concerns supported by 2013 research from Harvard and the University of Sydney that found that for election integrity, the U.S. ranked 26th out of 66 countries analyzed.

The question of who shapes public policies and under what conditions is a critical one, particularly in the context of declining voter turnout. From both a theoretical and practical point of view, it is important to understand if voters still have the possibility of providing meaningful input into public policies, or if the government bypasses citizens in favor of economic elites and interest groups with strong fundraising and organizational capacity.

Which of the following most accurately describes the difference between a stock exchange and an over-the-counter market?
Masteriza [31]
A stock exchange occurs in a centralized location, think Wall Street and the Stock Market. An over-the-counter market does not. Over-the-counter markets are considered less formal compared to exchanges. OTCs are less transparent and operate on fewer rules than exchanges. This can be both good and bad for those involved.
