The one-child policy created despair in Chinese society, disallowing families to have a choice in the size of their family, and increased the amount of femicide in new-borns. The policy also brought further disadvantages to the society in current days, making the idea of families less predominant, as younger generations have been raised in families without siblings and have little to no developed ideas about the future that may cross their path. The state on the other hand raised further power over the people by controlling a traditionally important aspect of their lives, and created a more fearful and obedient generation.
