In order to convert percents and decimals to fractions, take the percentage number, or the numbers to the right of the decimal place, and put it over 100. If possible, simplify from there.

Example:
32% = 32/100 = 8/25
.56 = 56/100 = 28/50 = 14/25

What is the solution to ln (x2 - 16) = 0?
bogdanovich [222]
ANSWER

x = \pm \sqrt{17}
EXPLANATION

The given equation is

ln( {x}^{2} - 16) = 0

Take antilogarithm of both sides to base e.

{e}^{ ln( {x}^{2} - 16) } = {e}^{0}

This will simplify to

{x}^{2} - 16 = 1

Group like terms to obtain,

{x}^{2} = 1 + 16

{x}^{2} = 17

Take square root of both sides to get,

x = \pm \sqrt{17}

As a salesperson, you are paid $50 per week plus $3 per sale. This week you want your pay to be least $100. Write and inequality
schepotkina [342]

Answer:

50 + 3x ≥ 100

Step-by-step explanation:

You already know that you are getting $50 that week. Then, for every sale you make $3. Your goal is $100, but you wouldn't complain about making more. Therefore, the inequality sign used here should be the greater than or equal to sign (≥). Your equation should be what is written above, with your payment on the left and earning goal on the right of the inequality sign.
