The adversarial system is a legal system used in the common law countries where two advocates represent their parties' case  before a group of people, a jury or judge. The judge attempts to determine the truth and administer justice. Judges must ensure fair play of due process. The use of the jury in the common law system provides the opportunity for both sides to argue their point of view.

In this system, the Charter has impacted this tension providing power to the police, they play an important role in the path to justice.
