Americans have adapted irish and british music into to American tastes.
Vasco da Gama brought them manufactured goods and tools that were available in Europe but not in those areas. They would trade things like spices and sewing materials in exchange for things like pans and pots and hammers and things like that that were useful but not used that much in that area of the world.
