I  think the answer is that they cannot eat continuously. Due to the fact that flat worms have on opening, they will have to excrete using the same hole they eat from. This digestive system is common in simplest invertebrates in a gastrovascular cavity. It is also called an incomplete digestive system.

The main disadvantage of a digestive system like this is that there is only one opening where the food enters and leaves. Therefore the organism, in our case,  the flatworm, must wait for the food to be digested and excreted through the opening in order to be able to eat again.

Respiratory distress syndrome is a type of neonatal disease of respiration ,caused by deficiency of the surfactant produced by type II alveolar cells in the lungs most commonly in premature infants.

Normally , the lungs of the fetus start the formation of the surfactant during the third trimester (26 weeks through labor and delivery ) but in the premature infants , the lungs are not totally developed , hence lack of surfactant production results in the respiratory distress syndrome charactarized by inflammation of the airways due to the lack of the surface tension lowring effect of the surfactant.

Glycocalyx in bacteria : most of the bacteria produce glycocalyx but some are expert .these expert bacteria make a very thick glycocalyx that helps them to adhere to each other and surfaces in extreme environments .bacteria use the glycocalyx to make thick films of bacteria in nature as well ,called a biofilm .
