Let the faculties be X and the number of students be Y.
X/Y = 17/3
3X= 17Y
X=17Y/3
Let that be equation 1
We also know that X+Y = 740. Let it be equation 2
Substitute equation 1 in equation 2
(17Y/3)+Y=  740
20Y/3 = 740
Y=111
Since the total is 740, then X equal 740-111 =629.
The number of faculties is 111 and the number of students is 629.

17+3 =20

so for every 20 people there are 17 students and 3 faculty

740/20 = 37

37*3 = 111 faculty

37 *17 = 629 students

Find the center and radius of the circle (x+3)^2+(y-1)^2=81
sasho [114]

The equation of a circle is written as ( x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2 = r^2

h and k is the center point of the circle and r is the radius.

In the given equation (x+3)^2 + (y-1)^2 = 81

h = -3

k = 1

r^2 = 81

Take the square root of both sides:

r = 9

The center is (-3,1) and the radius is 9

When Mya looked out at the store's parking lot, she noticed that for every 4 cars, there were 6 trucks. If there's a total of 22
olasank [31]

Answer:

<h2>88 cars</h2><h2>132 trucks</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a ratio problem, the ratio of  cars to trucks

for every 4 cars, there are 6 trucks

represented as a ratio we have 4:6

1. how many of them are cars

applying the part to whole strategy we have

4+6 = 10

let cars be x

\frac{4}{10}= \frac{x}{220}  \\\\x= \frac{220*4}{10} \\\\x= 880/10\\\\x= 88 cars

2.  how many of them are trucks?

let trucks be y

\frac{6}{10}= \frac{y}{220}  \\\\x= \frac{220*6}{10} \\\\y= 1320/10 \\\\y= 132 trucks

Can segments with lengths of 15, 20, and 36 form a triangle?
strojnjashka [21]
Ok, so remember

the legnth of the longest side must be LESS THAN the sum of the measures of the other 2 sides
if no longest side (becasue it has 2 longest sides or 3 equal sides), then it can form a triangle

so the longest side is 36

36 must be less than the sum  of 15 and 20
36<15+20
36<35
false

therfor it cannot form a triangle
try it yourself, you cannot connect them that way

a globe has a diameter of 24 inches. a smaller globe has a diameter of 18 inches. What is the surface are to volume ratio of the
faust18 [17]

Answer:

1 pi: 3pi

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Formula of surface area and volume of sphere

Surface area of sphere = 4 x pi x r^2

Volume of sphere = <u>4</u> x pi x r^3

                                 3

Step 2: Apply values in the formula

r = radius

radius = diameter/2

r=18/2 = 9

S.A = 4 x pi x 9^2

S.A = 324pi

Volume = <u>4</u> x pi x 9^3

                3

Volume = 972pi

Step 3 : Show in ratio

Surface area : Volume

324pi : 972pi

= 1 pi: 3pi
