One of the Intolerable Acts of 1774 required Massachusetts colonists to put up with British soldiers being housed in public facilities and in private homes if needed, since this was part of the "Quartering Act".

Furhman thought his conviction was unfair.  This is because the sentencing on capital punishment was not well defined.  It was later overturned by the Supreme Court.  It also redefined how a death penalty would be the verdict.  This had to be given at the time of the trial and details examined by the jury. It also brought out the need of a constant policy when it comes to the death penalty.
