Robert is using the following data samples to make a claim about the house values in his neighborhood: House Value A $250,000 B

$275,000 C $300,000 D $267,000 E $250,000 Based on the data, should Robert use the mean or the median to make an inference about the house values in his neighborhood?

Robert should use the mean to make an inference about the houses values in this neighborhood. The mean is $268,400 and the median is $267,000. The mean is larger suggesting that his neighborhoods value is larger than the median.

Answer:

He should use the mean because there are no outliers that affect the mean

Step-by-step explanation:

The mean is ($250,000 + $275,000 + $300,000 + $267,000 + $250,000)/5 = $268,400

To calculate the median we have to order the values from least to greatest:

$250,000 - $250,000 - $267,000 - $275,000 - $300,000

and then take the number that is halfway into the set. In this case, the median is $267,000

Median value is preferred when an outlier is present because in that case mean value loss representability of the sample. In this case mean and median are similar, there are no outliers, and mean should be used to make an inference.

Remember that if lines are parallel, they will have the same slope. Also, the number added or subtracted in the equation is the y intercept, or the y value when the x=0. They gave you the point (0,-7) so really, they just gave you the y intercept. How nice!! That means you just use the same slope as the original and then add -7 to it to get your equation. With that knowledge, you can now easily identify the correct answer!!

Perform the indicated operation. 10 3/7 + 19 5/9
DanielleElmas [232]
Given expression is

10 \frac{3}{7} + 19 \frac{5}{9}

Now convert mixed fraction as improper fraction as

10 \frac{3}{7} + 19 \frac{5}{9} =  \frac{10*7 + 3}{7} +  \frac{19*9+5}{9}
                                                         =  \frac{73}{7}  +  \frac{176}{9}
                                                          =  \frac{73*9 + 176 * 7}{63}
                                                         =  \frac{657 + 1232}{63} =  \frac{1889}{63}
Now we can convert \frac{1889}{63 } = 29 \frac{62}{63}

So the answer is 29 \frac{62}63}

What is the explicit rule for the sequence?<br><br><br><br> 12,6,0,−6, …
wolverine [178]
Hello!

First you find the common difference in the sequence

6 - 12 = -6
0 - 6 = -6

The common difference is -6

We can now make the equation

-6(n - 1) + 12

we got the 12 because it is the first number in the sequence

Simplify

-6n + 6 + 12

Simplify

18 - 6n

The answer is B) an = 18 - 6n

Hope this helps!

Paraphin [41]
Hi there!

Amit's estimate would be a close estimate!

If you add the fractions together and put it in decimal form you get 4.96 which is very close to Amit's estimate of 5.
