After the first World War, the British took over the administration of Palestine and overtime, more and more Jews arrived even though they were still the minority. After the second World War saw the Nazi genocide against Jews, the British came under pressure to establish a homeland for Jews so such things never happen again.

The British therefore let in more Jews and things escalated and got violence and the British appealed to the UN for a solution. The UN decided to divide Palestine into two with some parts going to Arabs and the rest going to Jews.

The map on the left shows the original plan that the UN used to divide Palestine.
