Answer:

Comets are celestial bodies constituted by ice, dust and rocks that orbit around the Sun, after having been altered by the Oort cloud; following different trajectories that can be highly eccentric elliptical (periodic trajectories), parabolic or hyperbolic.

One of the main characteristics of a comet is that it travels quite fast, on its way around the Sun and has a long tail.

It should be noted that comets in fact have two tails:

1. The first tail is composed of gas and dust that forms when the comet is approaching the Sun, then the solar radiation causes part of the ice that forms the nucleus to quickly turn into gas in a process called sublimation.

2. The second tail forms when the comet approaches even closer to the Sun, the solar wind hits the coma, causing the lighter particles to move away from the comet's nucleus and creating an ion tail. This tail always has opposite direction to sun (due to the radiation pressure of sunlight).

Knowing this, let’s fill each box with the required description:

1st box: Tail made of ions that appears to point away from the comet's orbit

2nd box: Tail made of small, solid dust particles

3rd box: The frozen part of the comet

If the earth's rotation axis were tilted by 45 degrees instead of 23.5 degrees, what are some of the implications, and why?
Tju [1.3M]

If the Earth's rotation axis were tilted by 45 degrees instead of 23.5 degrees, then the seasons would be more extreme.

What is the rotation axis of Earth?

The rotation axis of the Earth is an imaginary straight line around which the Earth spins. It goes from the North Pole to the South Pole cutting through the center of the Earth. The axial tilt of the Earth which is also known as the obliquity of the ecliptic is about 23.5 degrees. Due to this tilt, the Sun shines on different latitudes and longitudes at different angles throughout the year. This is why we have different seasons. Uranus has the largest axial tilt in the solar system, which is around 98 degrees.

If the Earth's rotation axis were tilted by 45 degrees instead of 23.5 degrees, then the seasons would be more extreme as the rays of the Sun would fall directly in the summer and not so direct in the winter.

Leto [7]

Earth’s surface is split up into a series of biomes, which are specific zones with a particular biological community determined by the physical environment and vegetation type.

An ecosystem is a geographical area where plants, animals, other living things, weather, and landscape work together to form a bubble of life. An ecosystem contains living or living parts and abiotic factors or non-living parts. Biological agents include plants, animals, and other organisms.

Examples of ecosystems: agricultural ecosystems, aquatic ecosystems, coral reefs, deserts, forests, human ecosystems, coastal areas, marine ecosystems, prairies, biological community rainforests, savannas, steppes, taiga, tundra, urban ecology system, etc. Plants, animals, soil organisms, climatic conditions.
