Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned Taj Mahal in the year 1632 to house the mausoleum of Mumtaz Mahal, his beloved wife. Built of white marble, this monument is located on the south bank of River Yamuna in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Originally the construction of this mausoleum completed in the year 1643 but entirely the construction of Taj Mahal is believed to have been completed in the year 1653.
