A constitutional monarchy provides only power in the constitution to a monarch. In a constitutional monarchy, political power is divided between the king and a constitutionally organized government such as a parliament.

EXPLANATION

A constitutional monarchy is a government form where a king or a queen acts as a leader or head of the state. A king or queen rules the state within the written and unwritten constitutional parameters. Constitutional monarchy is different from absolute monarchy. Constitutional monarchy holds all power over the government and the people. Some countries which apply modern constitutional monarchies are England, Canada, Sweden, and Japan.

Here are three important points to know about Constitutional Monarchy:

• A constitutional monarchy is government form where the non-elected monarch serves as the head of state within the limits of a constitution.

• A constitutional monarchy is different to an absolute monarchy because the constitutional monarchy has full power over the government and the citizens.

• Constitutional monarchy’s political power is shared between an organized government like the British Parliament and the monarch.
