The endocrine system is responsible for maintaining homeostasis of the body via rapid transmission of electrical signals. This system is the group of glands that are responsible of producing hormones that functions to regulate growth and development, metabolism, tissue function, sleep, reproduction and other processes in the body. The glands are being controlled by stimulation of the nervous system and by the chemical receptors that are in the blood. It consists of the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, ovaries for females and testicles for males and the pancreas. This system affect almost all of the organs and cells in the body.
