D) Defendants in civil cases are not provided court-appointed attorneys.

Criminal cases cater to crimes committed against the state. Civil cases are for disputes between civvies.

Most of criminal cases are resolved with trial by jury. On the other hand, most civil cases are decided by a judge.

Proof beyond reasonable doubt must be substantiated by the plaintiff.

For criminal cases, defendants are provided with an attorney. For civil cases, however, the defendant is not entitled to an attorney and must find a private lawyer.
