What were 3 major crops in the south?
Nikitich [7]

Depending on the time period, here are three major crops:

1) Tobacco: Back when tobacco business was booming, the South grew large amounts of Tobacco, as the need for it was growing. However, Tobacco prices started to drop, and Tobacco played out the land to quickly, so farmers switched to the next one.

2) Cotton: One of the cash crops in the South, cotton grew well in hot, drier climates, and combined with the then-industrial revolution, the South economy was able to boom because of the great demands. In fact, the South was called "Cotton-King" because of the amount of cotton they created.

3) Rice: A stable food, Rice was eating by many varieties of people. It became extremely popular after the Asians moved to the US (mostly to the western south coast).

Use the excerpt from Eugene Debs's "How I Became a Socialist" to answer the question.
zhenek [66]

This excerpt shows how Debs has endured and shared the harsh working conditions of laborers (D.).

Many verbal groups indicate his physical involvement in the working people's daily life and how it affected him emotionally:

  • "I had ... been stung by the exposure ... of the rail;"
  • "I was with the boys ... at the broken engine's side;"
  • "helped to bear;"
  • "feel the burden."

As for the harsh working conditions, they are described by the following nouns and adjectives:

  • "hardship;"
  • "weary;"
  • "bruised and bleeding bodies;"
  • "burden."

We know that they are laborers and not, for example, business owners, because their work is very manual. Besides, the term "working class" appears in the text, as well as "Proletaire" which is borrowed from French and means "belonging to the lower social classes."

Your President may easily become king. —Patrick Henry, 1788 What is Patrick Henry's main point in the quote above? A. The power
Lesechka [4]
The correct answer is B. The President would have too much power within the new government.
The explanation is because at the time the Constitution gave the Government too much power, it did not contain any of the checks and balances on the branches of Government that we have today. In turn, he was a key part of the Bill Of Rights being created, which amended the Constitution.
