In hoping to make it onto the school's Gold Team, Bryan, Eli,and Damien took golf lessons over the summer. Bryan signed up to ta

ke 4 lessons with a semi-pro instructor, and each lesson cost $32.00 for a 45-minute session. The instructor advised Bryan to buy a bag of bulk practice balls to use during his lessons. After buying a bag of 32 golf balls, the total cost for his lessons and golf balls is $132.48. Eli signed up to take 6 lessons with a pro instructor, and each lesson cost $52.00 for a 1-hour session. Eli bought a bag of bulk practice balls to use during his lessons. After buying a bag of 40 golf balls, the total cost for his lessons and golf balls is $319.20. Damien signed up to take 5 lessons with pro instructor, and each lesson cost $28.00 for a 30-minute session. Based on the instructor's advise, he bought a bag of 24 golf balls to use during his lessons. The total cost for his lessons and golf balls is $144.08. Place the students in order from the least amount to the greatest amount that they paid per golf ball.

During a football game a concession stand sold a family three hamburgers and two hotdogs for a total of $13 it's sold another fa
guajiro [1.7K]

Answer:

The price of each hamburger is $3

The price of each hot dogs is $2  .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The total price of 3 hamburger and 2 hot dogs = $13

The total price of 2 hamburger and 5 hot dogs = $16

Let The price of each hamburger = $x

Let The price of each hot dogs = $y

<u>Now, According to question</u>

3 x + 2 y = 13              .........A

2 x + 5 y = 16              .......B

Now, Solving to eq A and B

3 × (2 x + 5 y ) - 2 × (3 x + 2 y ) = 3 × 16 - 2 × 13

Or, (6 x + 15 y) - (6 x + 4 y) = 48 - 26

Or, (6 x - 6 x) + (15 y - 4 y) = 22

Or, 0 + 11 y = 22

∴  y = \dfrac{22}{11}

i.e y = $2

so, The price of each hot dogs = y = $2

<u>Now, Put the value of y into eq B</u>

i.e 2 x + 5 y = 16

or, 2 x + 5 × 2 = 16

or, 2 x = 16 - 10

or, 2 x = 6

∴  x = \dfrac{6}{2}

i.e x = $3

So, The price of each hamburger = x = $3

Hence, The price of each hamburger is $3 and  The price of each hot dogs is $2  . Answer

Find the number to which the sequence {(3n+1)/(2n-1)} converges and prove that your answer is correct using the epsilon-N defini
Nat2105 [25]
By inspection, it's clear that the sequence must converge to \dfrac32 because

\dfrac{3n+1}{2n-1}=\dfrac{3+\frac1n}{2-\frac1n}\approx\dfrac32

when n is arbitrarily large.

Now, for the limit as n\to\infty to be equal to \dfrac32 is to say that for any \varepsilon>0, there exists some N such that whenever n>N, it follows that

\left|\dfrac{3n+1}{2n-1}-\dfrac32\right|

From this inequality, we get

\left|\dfrac{3n+1}{2n-1}-\dfrac32\right|=\left|\dfrac{(6n+2)-(6n-3)}{2(2n-1)}\right|=\dfrac52\dfrac1{|2n-1|}
\implies|2n-1|>\dfrac5{2\varepsilon}
\implies2n-1\dfrac5{2\varepsilon}
\implies n\dfrac12+\dfrac5{4\varepsilon}

As we're considering n\to\infty, we can omit the first inequality.

We can then see that choosing N=\left\lceil\dfrac12+\dfrac5{4\varepsilon}\right\rceil will guarantee the condition for the limit to exist. We take the ceiling (least integer larger than the given bound) just so that N\in\mathbb N.
