For every value of x you put in, you can only get 1 y value exg if you subsitue 5 for x then then you will get only 4 and only 4 but it is possible to have 5 for x and get 4 and 20 for x and also get 4, one easy way is to use the vertical line test if you graph the equation and you draw a vertical line throught the line, the vertical line should pass through the equation line only once if we manipulate the equation, we would see that is is = y=x/4+5/4 which is a linear equation that is a striaght line and this passes the vertical line test

Ests show that the first photo detector isacceptable with probability 3/5. When the first photo detector is acceptable, the seco
vredina [299]

Answer:

The probability that exactly one photo detector of a pair is acceptable is \frac{19}{25}.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the A = first photo detector is acceptable and B = second photo detector is acceptable .

The information provided is:

P(A) = \frac{3}{5} \\P(B|A)=\frac{4}{5}\\ P(B|A^{c})=\frac{2}{5}

  • The law of total probability states that:

         P(X)=P(X|Y)P(Y)+P(X|Y^{c})P(Y^{c})\\

Using the law of total probability determine the probability of B as follows:

P(B)=P(B|A)P(A)+P(B|A^{c})P(A^{c})\\=(\frac{4}{5}\times\frac{3}{5}  )+(\frac{2}{5}(1- \frac{3}{5}))\\=\frac{12}{25}+\frac{4}{25}\\  =\frac{16}{25}

  • The addition rule of probability is:

        P(Y\cup X) = P(Y) + P(X) - P(Y\cap X)\\

Compute the probability that exactly one photo detector of a pair is acceptable using the addition rule of probability as follows:

P(A\cup B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A\cap B)\\=P(A) + P(B) - P(B|A)P(A)\\=\frac{3}{5} +\frac{16}{25} -[\frac{4}{5}\times\frac{3}{5}]  \\=\frac{3}{5} +\frac{16}{25}-\frac{12}{25}\\=\frac{15+16-12}{25}\\= \frac{19}{25}

Thus, the probability that exactly one photo detector of a pair is acceptable is \frac{19}{25}.

Is it possible for a triangle to have sides with the given lengths: 20 m, 22 m, and 24 m? A. Yes; the sum of each pair is greate
snow_lady [41]
The correct answer is A) yes, the sum of each pair is greater than the third.

The triangle inequality theorem states that the sum of any two sides of a triangle is longer than the third side. This is true for these numbers, so this does form a triangle.

X2 + 3x - 4 = 0 Find the value of the discriminant. A) 5 B) 6 C) 10 D) 25
sashaice [31]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

given a quadratic equation in standard form

ax² + bx + c = 0, then the discriminant is

Δ = b² - 4ac

x² + 3x - 4 = 0 ← is in standard form

with a = 1, b = 3, c = - 4

b² - 4ac = 3² - (4 × 1 × - 4) = 9 - (- 16) = 9 + 16 = 25 → D
