ANSWER

See explanation.

EXPLANATION

We want to very the identity:

1 - 2 \cos^{2} (x) = 2 \sin^{2} (x) - 1

Let us take the Left hand side and work it out to get the right hand side.

1 - 2 \cos^{2} (x)

Recall the Pythagorean Identity:

\cos^{2} (x) +  \sin^{2} (x) = 1

Make cos²(x) the subject.

\cos^{2} (x) = 1 -  \sin^{2} (x)

We substitute this into our expression to get:

1 - 2 (1 -  \sin^{2} (x) )

Expand:

1 - 2 + 2\sin^{2} (x)

Simplify

- 1+ 2\sin^{2} (x)

We can rewrite to get;

2\sin^{2} (x)  - 1

Therefore:

1 - 2 \cos^{2} (x) = 2 \sin^{2} (x) - 1

30 points plus brainliest if answered right!
Anettt [7]

Answer:

The second choice.

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of AC must be equal to 5, since it is horizontally five units. We can rule out the first option.

Length BC cannot be the square root of 16, since that would be exactly 4 units. BC is slanted and does not represent a completely vertical line, so it is not a whole number. We can rule out the fourth option.

Length AB cannot be a whole number, being a slanted line that crosses a total of more than four units. Option three can be ruled out.

Therefore, we are left with the second option.

A circle has a diameter with endpoints at -2 + i and -6 -11i. What is the center of the circle?
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

- 4 - 5i

Step-by-step explanation:

The centre of the circle is the average of the endpoints

centre = (- 2 + i - 6 - 11i ) ÷ 2

          = (- 8 - 10i ) ÷ 2

         = - 4 - 5i

The lines 2x=ky+2 and (k+1)x=6y-3 have same gradient. Find possible values of k
faust18 [17]

Answer:

k = 3 or k = -4

(Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong)

Step-by-step explanation:

2x=ky+2\to\ eq1\\(k+1)x=6y-3\to\ eq2\\$Change to this form: $y=mx+c\\ky=2x-2\\y=\frac{2x-2}{k}\\$gradient of eq1: $\frac{2}{k}\\6y=(k+1)x+3\\y=\frac{(k+1)x+3}{6}\\y=\frac{k+1}{6} x+\frac{3}{6}\\y= \frac{k+1}{6} x+\frac{1}{2}\\$gradient of eq1: $\frac{k+1}{6}\\$Since gradient, m, is the same for both lines,$\\\frac{2}{k}=\frac{k+1}{6}\\12=k^{2}+k\\k^{2}+k-12=0\\(k-3)(k+4)=0\\k=3 $ or $ k=-4
