Answer:

Speak softly and carry a big stick refers to president Roosevelt's foreign policy. It meant that US should negotiate peacefully but should have strength to take action if something goes wrong. This policy can be compared to gunboat diplomacy. It had five components.

Dollar diplomacy was followed during president William Howard Taft's presidency. It functioned on minimising the use of military threat and using economic power to further its aim in Latin America and East Asia. Although this policy was not new but during Taft's presidency the State department became more active in encouraging and supporting industrialists and bankers.

The moral diplomacy was followed by president Woodrow Wilson. It was a form of diplomacy in which only those countries were supported by US whose moral beliefs were analogous to that of US.It was used to support the countries with democratic governments and damaging the non democratic countries. He wanted to increase the number of democratic countries in Latin America. This policy was proposed during 1912 elections. It also relied of economic tactics.

The difference between Big Stick, Dollar and moral diplomacy was that Big stick diplomacy supported the use of force while in both Dollar and moral diplomacy economic power was utilised.
